SAN DIEGO, Calif. – November 13, 2001 – Now is your chance to predict the “Next Big Thing” in technology, including biotech, medical device, telecommunications, electronics and energy.  Enter your choice using the Internet (the last big thing), and then attend the San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum on November 28.  There you can compare your picks with those of local industry experts, including Dr. Fred Cutler of UCSD Connect, Kevin Carroll of the AeA (American Electronics Association), Marco Thompson of the San Diego Telecom Council and Michael Allman, president of Sempra Ventures.

The San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum is a non-profit organization that promotes the growth and success of emerging technology companies.  In addition to monthly case study presentations by local companies, the

Forum hosts two special programs each year that focus on timely topics. November’s program will gather experts from a variety of industry segments to identify the next explosive technology that will spur growth.

“San Diego is a creative hub for technology and biotech. What better place to uncover the next technology that will change the world?” said Jennifer Carroll, the Forum’s executive director. “The Forum was created to encourage emerging companies from a wide range of industries, so it offers a perfect venue to meet and explore the Next Big Thing.”

Reo Carr, editor-in-chief of the San Diego Daily Transcript, will be the program moderator.  To enter your choice for the Next Big Thing, go to http://miia.com/mit. The event takes place Wednesday, November 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the La Jolla Marriott.  Cost is $35 if pre-registered by Monday, Nov. 26th or $40 at the door. To register, visit www.sdmitforum.org or call 619-236-9400.

About the San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum

The San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum meets monthly to address business challenges faced daily by San Diego entrepreneurs. Through a case study format, CEOs of early-stage and growing companies present their most pressing issues to a panel of their peers, as well as a 250-plus audience. Concentrating on strategic issues such as funding, marketing and growth, the panel acts as the company’s Board of Directors, offering strategies, tactics and advice. The meetings are open to the public and attract everyone from entrepreneurs to investors and analysts.
